Equifax Inc. announced on September 7th a cybersecurity incident potentially impacting approximately 143 million U.S. consumers. Criminals exploited a U.S. website application vulnerability to gain access to social security numbers, birth dates, addresses and driver’s license numbers between mid-May through July, 2017. Equifax has found no evidence of unauthorized activity on Equifax’s core consumer or commercial credit reporting databases.
Peoples is aware of the Equifax breach and will continue to monitor the situation. No customer data from Peoples Bank has been compromised.
